I registered for the event because I couldn't resist the temptation of being part of it and due to my busy work schedule I couldn't get a chance to participate in hackathons before. I cannot express the joy I felt when my registration was confirmed by Microsoft. Some developers came from outside state. I reached Microsoft (I) Pvt. Ltd., Kolkata around 8:45 AM on 17th May, 2014. The event started at 10:00 AM. Abhishek Sur, Kunal Chowdhury, Nitesh Luharuka were the venue administrators. They briefed us about the day's plans.We started giving finishing touch to our apps and testing our apps on multiple platforms. Everyone was very serious about their projects and was working very hard to make the apps bugfree and clean. While some people were working on single projects, some were working on multiple projects. I learnt a lot from other developers around me and I made a lot of new friends. Venue admins were very helpful in giving us valuable app development tips.
We were served coffee and cocacola twice and Domino's giant pizza during lunch. App development time was up to 6:00 PM. Then, it was presentation time. Each team was given ten minutes to explain their app(s), giving emphasis on "Why would anyone buy their app(s)?". During the presentation the judges gave us important advice to improve UI, UX and other aspects of the apps. And then, awards time. 1st prize was won by Ankit Mohanty. It was a Dell Venue 8 Pro (WiFi, 32GB), Black. 2nd prize went to Shahnawaz Alam & Zoama Hassan. 3rd prize went to Abhishek Nandy & Sumantro Rijndael Mukherjee. Other participants won a lot of Microsoft goodies just for attending this event. So guys, be sure to attend the next //publish/ event in your nearest city! Don't miss again!
