Stop worrying. Start living. After a brief demo at Build 2014, Windows 10 was officially unveiled in September, 2014. The OS then entered a public beta testing process in October, 2014, leading up to and continuing through the consumer release of Windows 10 on July 29, 2015, and its release to volume licensing on August 1, 2015. To foster its adoption, Microsoft announced that during its first year of availability, Windows 10 would be made available free of charge to users of authentic copies of eligible editions of Windows 7 or Windows 8.1.
According to an article posted on Firstpost, Microsoft can remotely disable pirated games, if you’re running them on Windows 10. People all over the world use pirated games or other software. Different people do it for different reasons. For some the reason is poverty, for some the reason is they like to test a software before purchasing it and of course, some just like to bend the rules. Windows 10 is the first version of Windows where Microsoft is promoting its leading operating system as a service instead of a standalone software product. One of the most interesting changes to Windows has also gone undiscerned by most. Spotted by PC Authority, Microsoft has modified the End User License Agreement (EULA) for the operating system, which now lets Microsoft to remotely remove pirated software on your machine. "Sometimes you'll need software updates to keep using the Services. We may automatically check your version of the software and download software updates or configuration changes, including those that prevent you from accessing the Services, playing counterfeit games, or using unauthorized hardware peripheral devices. You may also be required to update the software to continue using the Services," says the updated EULA agreement. At the moment, there's no clarity on how Microsoft determines who is running counterfeit software. While this may make some people irritated, it has to be noted that Apple and Google both have a similar feature on their mobile platforms iOS and Android. Apple, though, doesn't do the same in its desktop platform OS X.
Even though some news outlets think that this move by Microsoft will raise privacy concerns, it is actually a good feature which will benefit users, because pirated software come with a lot of hidden features, including but not limited to sending personal data of the user to a cyber criminal. So, by removing pirated software from a user's machine actually Microsoft will be helping millions of Windows users protect their personal data. So, people should stop worrying and start enjoying the beautiful features of Windows 10. A lot of highly intelligent and innovative people have given a lot of time to produce this wonderful piece of art (Yes, it's not just an operating system, it's a piece of art). In the words of Satya Nadella, CEO, Microsoft, "It’s the first step in a new generation of Windows as opposed to just another release after Windows 8."
