The format can now be used freely, for all intents and purposes. The gif format supports both static and animated images, although animated gifs are the main reason behind the format's widespread popularity. The format is used for logos with solid color areas but limited variations. BuzzFeed, the world-renowned news outlet that publishes hot trending stories, has started a new era of gif-powered photojournalism.

If you are a brand, you can get an official brand account. The Giphy team is also very serious about privacy.
